Melo Melo – a chair / play sculpture made in cooperation with Kompan for @snedkernesefterarsudstilling 2020 ‘Illusions’ in @Tivolicph

Melo Melo is a poetic play/seating sculpture. Its curvy form is based on a slightly asymmetrical helix figure and changes expression as the viewer moves around it. The illusion of a seat or a saddle, a pair of armrest and legs emerges when it is seen from different angles and connects with associations to the organic forms of conches and snails. The sculpture is named Melo Melo after the large melon snails that Australian islanders once used as ladles. The Melo Melo module can stand alone or be joined together with other modules to form benches.
